Texas

I am back in Texas for a while right now. I will be in Chicago off and on during the next couple of months though.
Here is how we have been keeping busy.

Edit: Brinton came up with a cool name for us. I'm not sure why we need a name, but the name is the Indoorsmen.

This is Cody and Brinton learning how to use the Wii. It's strange to see how they act differently.

Flash Fiction

A while ago, Wired published a bunch of flash fiction from famous contemporary authors.
link.
I found some text that I had written on a drawing a couple of years ago and decided that it could be flash fiction.

I think it's a good trend.

I have been blogged!

I am kindof excited. I think that this is the first time that has happened to me I think. Maybe it will become a trend!

The article is about KML tags for GoogleEarth mods.
I am mentioned about halfway down. They are talking about my project last semester for my wireless devices class, link.
link.

EDIT.

I just found this also. That blog entry was in reference to an interview/ dialog with Denis Crowley (from Dodgeball.com), Scott Heiferman (CEO of Meetup.com), Michael Sharon (CTO and co-founder of Socialight.com), Molly Wright Steenson (Wondergirl.com) and Heath Row (Sr Dir of Comm Dev, Squidoo).
My project was mentioned by Michael, who has seemed to have taken over my tag group on Socialight.. which is fine because I don't plan to update it for a while. HE even talks about the time when Pablo crashed his car into a tree while we were making a video!

Video Game Programmers are Writting Code for Life

Apparently, Due to delays in the release of Windows Vista, Microsoft has pulled XBox programmers to the project to rewrite 60% of the code for the OS. The same people who make our video games are going to be making our operating systems. I am kind of egar to see if the results will be detectable when using the OS.

Six weeks in Prague, Summer 2006

I got accepted for the Summer study trip to Prague at my school.
I'll be there for 6 weeks in early June to early July. I'm taking a history class, which I'm sure will not be much fun. Also I am taking the Painting/ Drawing section instead of the New Media, for studio. The plan is to make some projector drawings and think about that a little bit more. I have some new ideas about it that are hopfully unconventional.

Here is the link to the schools site: Academy of Fine Arts Prague.

Third Post Today

I just noticed the "Links for you" section at del.icio.us
Come to find out, it is when someone posts a link that they think you might enjoy. The problem is that they have to specifically post it for YOU. I'm not sayin that this is not a great fuction, but it seems like it could be so much more. I expected it to be a method of suggesting different links to you based on whatever it is that you have posted...

del.icio.us! Get on that shit!

Friends Visiting

Everyone is having people come to visit them this week it seems.

Alix Daily was in town to sign up for the Prague study trip. She has some neat knitting projects planned for the Summer.

Thomas is just bumming around Chicago this week looking at artwork. He has been explaining his thesis paper to me about Kafka. It's pretty brilliant so far.

This Joseph Cornell box was really cool. Thomas was explaining to me the coralations between Cornel's boxes and Monalisa Overdrive, but I really liked it because of the Wind-Up Bird.

Skull ON, The life of a Drawing

I have started a new blog based on a drawing (Skull ON). the address is here: http://skullon.blogspot.com.

The drawing is constantly changing context to fit the new day. It is my way of currating things into the internet in a way that they exist for me. It may even take on a life of it's own. Pablo always says that for an building to be a character it has to change with the plot.

A "Form Follows Fiction" Moment for Google

Google is one of my favourite companies, despite some of the things they are doing with the new Google Desktop.

They have had many wonderful Form Follows Fiction moments, a favorite of mine being Google Moon.

This one takes the cake though.
Girls of Google.

It is a site where you can vote who is the prettiest of the female Google employees.

Cell Phone Drawings

Sitting in the doctor's office today i was bored, so I started to draw over top of pictures from my cell phone.
Here are some of the results.

Stickers in Chicago

Kara bought a bunch of 8.5 x 11 sticker paper, so we made stickers for putting on the CTA here in Chicago.
I made stickers that showed my preferences. This time they were about fashion.
Kara is working to scan her latest sketch book (which will be about 55 sheets) and put it up all at once.

here are some pictures.

Video Game Vacation

This weekend, I took a Greyhound bus to Akron Ohio. I hate busses.
I went to visit Alix, and to see a Cory Archangel lecture at the University of Akron. The exhibition was currated by Seth Thompson.
After the lecture, we went over to Seth's house for pizza, cake and beer. Mostly, we talked about the internet and Google and Myspace. Also, an interesting remark from Cory, "The internet is what the video artists from the '70s thought TV would be like."

You can now download Refund Music on thier myspace.

Jen & Kody's music project. They have been kind of working between NYC and Austin, TX on these songs. Jen showed me the first, I think, in the summer of 2004. They have come along way since then.

Drawing with out a projector.

I have been in the habbit of drawing with a projector. I really enjoy drawing, I have done it all my life. The projector is good for me because I don't have to think about what I am drawing. I just draw it. But here i am sitting at my computer dowstairs and wanting to draw, but the studio is far too cold, and the space heater takes too long to make everything better. So i decided to do a drawing from my phone. This didnt work because my phone keeps turning itself to a blank screen (it's new so i don't know how to change this yet).

So, in conclusion, drawing with out a projector might be like using a stylist on a touch screen.

I don't really know for sure.
